Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide when creating an account, including your name and email from Google sign-in or email sign-in, plus usage data such as generated content, saved items, and interaction patterns. If you use an admin-issued demo code, we process that code to authenticate your demo account.
2. How We Use Your Information
Your information is used to provide and improve our services, generate AI responses, maintain your saved content, and communicate service updates.
3. AI Processing
Your inputs are sent to OpenRouter for AI processing using the model you select. We do not use your content to train AI models. In a voice round, your browser's speech recognition turns your speech into text; in Chrome, that sends your audio to Google, and other browsers may send it to their own speech service. DebateLab never records or stores your audio. The AI opponent's replies are sent as text to ElevenLabs to produce its voice.
4. Data Storage
Your data is stored securely using Supabase infrastructure with encryption at rest and in transit.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with OpenRouter for AI processing, ElevenLabs for the opponent's voice in voice rounds, Exa for web research, PostHog and Sentry for analytics and error monitoring (see Cookies and Tracking), Jam for bug reports (see Bug Reports with Jam), and payment processors for billing.
6. Your Rights
In Settings you can download a copy of your data as a JSON file, erase your saved work, or delete your account. Deleting your account permanently removes it and all data stored with it, and cancels any Pro subscription immediately. Stripe keeps its own billing records, such as invoices and payments, as required for tax and accounting.
7. Cookies and Tracking
We use essential cookies and browser storage for authentication and preferences. We use PostHog for product analytics and Sentry for error monitoring, structured logs, application metrics, performance tracing, and error-only Session Replay. Sentry does not record ordinary sessions. It records sessions containing captured errors; all replay text and inputs are masked and media is blocked. Sentry receives technical metadata such as routes, browser details, request URLs, methods and status codes, stack traces, timings, and safe event classifications. Automatic collection of user identity, cookies, headers, HTTP bodies, query parameters, AI inputs and outputs, and stack-frame variables is disabled. PostHog autocapture, pageview capture, session recording, and persistent browser storage are disabled. We do not send debate content, chat messages, source titles, or email addresses in analytics events or structured logs.
8. Bug Reports with Jam
We use Jam, a bug-reporting service run by We are Jam, Inc., so that you can show us a problem by recording it. Jam's scripts load for every visitor to DebateLab, after your first click, tap or key press, or 8 seconds after the page loads, whichever comes first. They open a frame from recorder.jam.dev, which receives the address of the page you are on, your browser and device details and page load timings, and they collect the page's console logs, its network requests and your clicks and key presses so these can be attached to a recording. A recording is made when you open a Jam recording link we sent you and press Start Recording. It contains a video of the screen, window or tab you choose to share, together with that technical data, so it can include anything shown on the page or exchanged with our servers, such as your debate content. While you are signed in, your DebateLab account ID is available to Jam and is attached to any recording you make, which links the recording to your account. Jam processes this data as our service provider and keeps it until it is no longer needed to provide its service; it does not state a fixed retention period. To ask us to delete a recording, or to object to this processing, contact privacy@debatelab.app.
9. Children's Privacy
DebateLab is designed for users 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy periodically. Significant changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification.
